Provincial Food Network Co-operative Launching June 25th in St. John's

A new provincial co-operative is being launched to rebuild local production, education and direct distribution of food in Newfoundland and Labrador! The founding AGM and information session will be held Thursday, June 25, from 7 to 9 PM at St. David’s Presbyterian Church on 98 Elizabeth Avenue in St. John’s.

The Provincial Food Network Community Service Co-op has emerged from a province-wide two-year project that connected Indigenous communities, farmers, gardeners and foragers across Newfoundland and Labrador. Members of the PFN Co-op will work together to support:

  • knowledge exchange

  • sharing of tools and resources

  • advocacy for better food policies

  • food education, and

  • a more direct food distribution system

Anyone who cares about where their food comes from can apply to join the co-op. The group will welcome growers, gardeners and people developing new food products. Upon approval of your application, the only cost of membership will be a $10 refundable share placed on deposit. If you wish to apply, membership applications will be available on site at the founding AGM.

The Co-op will be working with home food producers, community gardeners, farmers, fishers, hunters and foragers. They will need people with a wide range of skills and interests.

Anyone interested in being part of the Co-op, should email pfncoopnl@gmail.com.

Everyone is welcome to join us on Thursday, June 25 at 7 PM at St. David’s Church in St. John’s. If you are unable to attend the AGM in person, you are also welcome to join remotely by following the link below:

We thank Atlantic Lottery Corporation for the funding they have provided for the Co-op launch!
